GasBuddy Emergency Preparedness
During the last gasoline fiasco in the Southeastern U.S., when hackers hacked the Colonial Pipeline, we discovered a handy app for cell phones that I want to share with everyone. It’s called GasBuddy, and it’s available in the Apple Store as well as Google Play.
When the hack occurred, everyone rushed out and began filling up their cars and gas cans, which in turn caused a supply shortage even before it actually had time to trickle its way down to most consumers.
Saved Our Trip
My wife and I had been planning a trip to North Carolina for some time. We were a bit apprehensive about leaving Florida during this gasoline crisis. That’s when I discovered the app GasBuddy. As we began our trip, we were able to plan for which gas stations actually had fuel. We could calculate the current cost and how far away they were in real-time. The GasBuddy app was a lifesaver. We didn’t have to worry about which exit to get off and if there would be fuel there.
This valuable app allows you to instantly see which gas stations in your area have fuel, the cost, and a ton of additional information. The cool thing about the GasBuddy app is that it updates in real-time by the app users. Whenever you stop to get fuel, you can edit the app with the current cost and availability for other app users to see instantly.
